Privacy Policy
Mayberry exists to seat you at a table with strangers, and that takes trust. This policy says exactly what we collect, what it is used for, who can see it, and the controls you have. The short version: your profile is shared only by the rules you set, your documents never reach us, and nothing is sold to anyone.
1. What We Collect
Account details: name, email, phone number, date of birth and your sign-in credentials. Profile details you choose to add: photos, bio, pronouns, city and address, interests, lifestyle answers, and optional fields like race, ethnicity, dietary needs and a budget comfort band. Questionnaire answers. Event history: bookings, attendance, the people you met, and the ratings and written feedback you leave after a night. Your private friends list, including contacts you choose to import. Anyone you block. Payment and subscription status (from our payment processor, we never store full card numbers). Basic device and usage information needed to run the app.
2. How We Use It
To place you into groups: your answers, interests and preferences feed the matching that seats a table, and dietary needs and budget band help pick a venue everyone can eat at. To run events, memberships and rewards. To keep members safe: blocks keep you and the people you block out of shared groups. To summarize the written feedback strangers leave about you into a short profile insight. This summary is generated with automated (AI) tools, and the raw feedback is not shown to you verbatim. To respond when you contact support. We do not sell your personal information or show you third-party ads.
3. Who Sees What
Your profile has three visibility tiers, and you control the tier of each field from the profile editor: private (only you), friends, and people you have met at events. Your name, primary photo, bio and interests are visible to members you meet. Your street address, phone, email, race, ethnicity and dietary needs default to private. Your budget band is never shown to anyone. Other members never see your profile before an event: before the night, your group sees only its size, never faces or names. Venues may receive a first name to hold a reservation. Admins can see member records to run the service.
4. Contacts You Import
Contact sync is optional and off until you turn it on. Imported contacts go into your private friends list, visible only to you, and sync two-way with your phone's address book. If you enable discovery, we match phone numbers to find contacts who are already members. You can turn "Let Contacts Find Me" off in Settings to stay out of other members' matches.
5. Blocking
You can block someone by writing down their contact details or by picking a person you met. Details you write down are used only to keep you out of shared groups, including if that person joins later. The blocked person is never told, and we never tell you whether a written-down contact has an account.
6. Identity Verification and Payments
Payments and identity checks are handled by Stripe. When you verify, your ID photos and selfie go directly to Stripe on their pages. Mayberry never sees or stores those documents and receives only the result of the check. Stripe's handling of that data is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
7. Service Providers
We use a small set of providers to run the Service: Stripe (payments and identity), Supabase (hosting, database and authentication), Mapbox and Google (maps, geocoding and venue search), Resend (email), PostHog (product analytics), and Google (AI summarization of post-event feedback). Each receives only what it needs to do its job.
8. Analytics
We use PostHog, acting as our processor, to understand how the app is used: which screens are opened, which steps of signup and booking are completed, and where people get stuck. Events are keyed to your account identifier rather than your name or email, and we do not send personal content such as your email address, phone number, date of birth, address, bio, free-text answers or photos to our analytics provider.
We do not use advertising or attribution services, we do not track you across other companies' apps and websites, and we do not record your screen. You can turn analytics off at any time from Settings, and deleting your account deletes your analytics profile as well.
9. Your Controls
From Settings you can edit any profile field and its visibility, export a complete copy of your data (emailed to your sign-in address), and delete your account. Deleting cancels your subscription and permanently anonymizes your personal information. Records the service must keep (like payment history) are retained without your identity attached. Your blocked-contacts list is deleted outright. If you cannot sign in, you can request deletion from the web.
10. Security and Retention
Data is stored with access controls that limit every member to their own records, and sensitive operations run server-side. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong, unique password. We keep personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to meet legal obligations.
11. Age
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we delete it.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always posted in the app and on this page with its effective date, and material changes will be flagged in the app.
