Delete your account
You can delete your Mayberry account and its data at any time. There are two ways to do it: from inside the app, which is immediate, or by emailing us, which is there for anyone who can no longer sign in.
-
Delete it yourself, in the app
Open Mayberry and go to Profile, then Settings, then Account and Security, then Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm. This is the fastest route and it takes effect straight away.
-
Ask us to delete it
If you cannot sign in, email support@mayberrysocial.com from the email address on the account, with "Account deletion request" as the subject.
Please send it from the account's own address. It is how we confirm the request is yours. If you no longer have access to that mailbox, write to us anyway and we will work out another way to verify you before deleting anything.
We confirm requests by reply and complete them within 30 days.
Deleting is permanent and it cannot be undone. You will not be able to sign in again, and the account cannot be restored later. If you only want to stop being billed, cancel your membership from Settings instead and keep the account.
What happens when you delete
Deletion at Mayberry means your account is anonymized, not that every row is destroyed. We want to be exact about this rather than claim a hard delete we do not perform.
In order, deleting your account:
- Cancels your paid membership immediately, so you are not billed again. If the cancellation fails, we stop and delete nothing, because no account should be tombstoned while it is still being charged.
- Permanently scrambles the personal information on your member record: your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, address, bio and other profile fields.
- Deletes your photos from our storage.
- Deletes your blocked-contacts list outright.
- Deletes your profile from our analytics provider.
- Disables your login permanently, so the account can no longer be accessed by anyone.
What is kept, and why
Some records survive with your identity removed, because the service or the law needs them:
- Payment and subscription history, which we are required to keep for tax and accounting. Your payment processor (Stripe) also keeps its own records under its own policy.
- Event and group records, so the nights that happened still add up correctly for the other people who were there. Your identity is no longer attached to them.
- Feedback you left about other members, which was always anonymous to them and stays that way.
None of the above can be traced back to you once the account is anonymized.
Want a copy first?
Before deleting, you can export everything we hold about you. In the app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Account and Security, then Export My Data. We email a complete copy to your sign-in address. Once the account is deleted we can no longer produce one.
More detail
Our Privacy Policy covers what we collect and how it is used, and the Terms of Service cover termination. If anything here is unclear, email support@mayberrysocial.com and a person will answer.
